Few Czech regions have retained their original atmosphere like the Chodsko area. Forest-covered hills, fields and pastures, dotted with quaint little villages. Wayside crosses along line the roads, creeks have small mills, and many benches await travelers to rest and take in the lovely surroundings. Locals speech with a strong yet understandable dialect. Mostly on Sundays, women dress in folk costumes, and restaurants offer local cuisine. You will find no large-capacity lodging facilities here, the reasonable amount of hotels and guesthouses makes them all the more attractive. Many places are not featured in travel guides, wich can actually provide you with an even greater experience. Some you must seek out, yet others pop out unexpectedly along the way.
Well-marked hiking and cycling routes connect most key places in the Chodsko area (like the cross-border cycle route from Domažlice to Furth im Wald), as do cross-country ski trails in winter. Downhill skiing lovers, especially families with children, will find a sanctuary here and appreciate the low ski-lift prices. One great place for a summer visit is the wonderfully restored natural swimming pool in Babylon. Its First Republic building and cabins add to the attractive traditional atmosphere. Alternatively, visitors can head to new swimming and wellnes centre in Domažlice.

The Chodsko area has won the hearts of many, and given the chance, if you walk through it slowly with attentive eyes, yours may be next.
